Electrocardiogram (ECG)

Electrocardiogram (ECG)

What is Electrocardiogram – ECG?

An electrocardiogram is used to monitor the heartbeat. It provides information about heart rate and rhythm. Your heartbeat is tested by an electrical impulse generated from special cells of the heart.

There is nothing painful while performing an ECG. During an ECG test, around 12 electrodes will be attached in a standard pattern on the shoulders, the chest, the wrists, and the ankles. The electrodes are connected to a monitor. They record the electrical signals that make your heartbeat. A system records the information and displays it like waves on a screen.

An ECG works best when the skin is clean and dry and free of oils and lotions.

Tests performed in the Capital diagnostic Centre are closely monitored and quality controlled by our professional staff.
